Social Exclusion, Disability and Homelessness:
This is the home page of Good 4 You, a charity for disabled people who are homeless. This site seeks to demonstrate that some disabled people suffer social exclusion to such an extreme extent that they are rendered homeless. Not all disabled people are homeless and not all homeless people are disabled. At least half of all homeless people in London are disabled.

The Good 4 You Report:
Freedom Passes, Disability Discrimination and Disabled Homeless People

This study shows that the Freedom Pass system, that was designed to help disabled people, actually discriminates against them in very severe ways. By disability discrimination it is meant that the system treats disabled people less favourably than nondisabled people because of their disabilities. An example of this disability discrimination is that any person who is entitled to a Freedom Pass who is not disabled can go to the Post Office and get a Freedom Pass issued within half an hour. The normal time it takes to issue a Freedom Pass to a disabled person is measured in months.
Many examples of the Red Riding Hood Syndrome can be read about in the report. The Red Riding Hood Syndrome refers to the fact that the Wolf promised Little Red Riding Hood the short easy route and then delivered a route that was longer and harder, just as our society promises to make it easy for disabled people to find work. In the end, it is harder for disabled people to find work, to get a Freedom Pass, and to do most things that ordinary people take for granted - like ride a bus.
