This study shows that the Freedom Pass system, that was
designed to help disabled people, actually discriminates against them in
very severe ways. By disability discrimination it is meant that the system treats
disabled people less favourably than nondisabled people because of their
disabilities. An example of this disability discrimination is that any person who
is entitled to a Freedom Pass who is not disabled can go to the Post
Office and get a Freedom Pass issued within half an hour. The normal
time it takes to issue a Freedom Pass to a disabled person is measured
in months. |
