Disability Services at The Upper Room

The Upper Room provides a broad range of services for homeless, vulnerable, and socially disadvantaged people in West London, including serving over 20,000 meals a year. The charity has helped people in need for over 18 years. Good4you provides disability services to homeless people at The Upper Room.

Every Monday we host a Disability Workshop at The Upper Room to provide various different forms of support to disabled people who are homeless. Disabled people often find everyday tasks very difficult, and sometimes impossible, to perform.

Good4you Disability Workshops at The Upper Room

  • We apply for Freedom Passes. We do this by working with the applicant's GP/Doctor as well as obtaining the necessary information in order to ensure that the applications we send off have the highest possible chance of success. Freedom Passes allow people with certain disabilities free travel on urban buses, trams and trains in England and Wales.
  • We help to find sheltered employment for disabled people. We do this by helping them to get a disability advisor at Job centre plus, and to get them into the "Work Choice" program.
  • We help disabled people to access the disability benefits that are available to them. We find and appoint solicitors in order to ensure that they get the right benefits.
  • We help disabled and homeless people to apply for council housing.
Disability legislation is a powerful tool to help homeless people.
