Free Speaker

At Good4You we run free Disability Workshops where we cover the topic: "My friend is a disabled person. What do I do now?" Thanks to a £10,000 grant from The National Lottery we are able to send a free speaker to speak at your event where we can tailor our talk to your circumstances and offer practical advice on how to help disabled people.

Key aspects covered in our workshops include:
  • The fact that "Buy One Get One Free" can apply in regard to paying staff wages. If you employ a suitably disabled person the Department of Work and Pensions will give you another employee (as an assistant to the disabled person) free.
  • Local Government will also give a suitable disabled person a free Oyster Card (known as a "Freedom Pass"), zone one to six, which is also valid inside other cities all over England and Wales.
  • One in six people is a disabled person. There are 11 million disabled people in Britain, with a total spending power of £80,000,000,000. Yes, 80 Billion Pounds a year.
  • Only 8% of disabled people are in a wheelchair. Unseen disabilities (depression, bipolar disorder, bulimia, cancer etc.) can be equally as difficult, (if not more so) to cope with as visible disabilities
Disability is a part of every social activity because one in six people is a disabled person.
Our workshops are suitable for any event, group or club. We offer practical advice on understanding disability and on how to help disabled people.
